Overview

The intention of this symbol was to capture key characteristics of design, support systems, energy transfer, and simplification through mechanism. Reminiscent of an automatic transmission, this design is composed of four key parts. Although drastic simplifications have been made and the mechanical structure of their interaction has been changed the system still contains the original four elements of its literal counterpart. The design has been placed at a thirty-degree angle, relative to its equilibrium, to provide the system a sense of energy and momentum.

The hex nut, placed in the center of the design, speaks for the balance and support characteristics of mechanical engineering.

The gear system references the disciplines focus on transfer of energy and its use of mechanical systems to shift and reshape energy.
